    Default Plane and Pilot reunited

This past weekend I met Mr. Harry Vanderford who flew my airplane over a dozen times starting in 1952 at the 31st Street Airport (Heart of America) in Kansas City when he was 48 years old. Yes, he's now 105.

    Very nice.

We've found some old pictures of my Dad (who's no longer with us) with his first Cub back in his 20's. Checked the N number and found it was still flying somewhere. Thought it would be neat to go visit the current owner some day.

Yeah Tom, I agree and hope that the old fella got a kick out of it, imagine if it happened to look the same to him as the pictures in his mind, it would be like a short trip in a time machine to 1952....105, God bless him.

Did you give him a ride?

I have not given him a ride yet myself, but I found out that he did have a ride in it just before I bought the airplane, but at that time he did not know he had previously flown it.

I think a short description & his bio and your picture of him on the ground, and one smiling in the cockpit in the air, would score you a back page article in AOPA Pilot for sure...

Harry's logbook shows he also flew s/n 15-355 N4581H, s/n 17-82 N4683H, and s/n 17-118 N4820H around the same time period. He remembers flying one Vagabond that was red. All of these were flown at either the 31st Street Airport in Kansas City, or the Independence Missouri airport.
