    Default vagabond elevator spring system

    Hello all

I have some friends who have a vagabond and are wondering about the elevator spring system. is it supposed to hold the elevator in the up position when sitting on the ground or is it just to provide some up tension to the elevator for trim reasons?

    Any opinions appreciated

    Thanks, Neal

I have that on my Clipper as well. I am new to short wing pipers as I just bought mine but on mine it is rusty and needs to be replaced. I was thinking about removing it to see how is feels without before I replace it. There seems to be a dual trim system with the jack screw moving the horizontal stabilizer and the springs for adding extra force. The cables move up and down with the jack screw and change the pressure on the elevator so I am assuming it also add some trim.

Probably good to read this thread on the subject.

Good read. So without the trim springs you might have problems with pitch stability?
