Default Colt Wing Tip Bow Brackets

Hello Everyone. I am a new member restoring a '61 colt tail dragger conversion. Just working in the wings for now. I am restoring the badly broken wingtip bows. On the front bracket there is a set of holes for the fastener that holds the wing tip light. On the the rear spar bracket, there is also a set of holes that are badly worn, but nothing was mounted in these holes when I got the airplane. What might have been mounted in these holes ??

    Paul,

I believe that the rear brackets were used by Piper to mount a spreader bar between the front and rear brackets which was used to hold the wing on a rotisserie while it was being covered and painted. I may be wrong about this, but I have seen old photos of Piper holding the wings this way. An original wing would have little clip covers to cover the holes in the fabric where the spreader bar was attached. Most folks now use a hoop that supports the wing at the strut attach fittings.
