    Default Colt Speeds

    Hi to All !

We recently bought a '61 Colt that was converted to a tail-dragger in '91. Great little plane !

Looking at various sources I'm confused about some of the speeds including :

    Maneuvering Speed
    Max. Rough-Air Speed
    Max. Speed
    Not-to-Exceed Speed

For example, most sources show the Not-to-Exceed Speed as 120 MPH, and our A-S Indicator shows about 138 MPH.

Your inputs on this will be greatly appreciated !

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Jack,
You can find the required speeds in the Type Certificate Data Sheet. Since you are a member of the club, you can find a copy in the Maintenance Data Depot on the clubs web site. The Colt will be one of the last models listed. You can also find the TCDS on the FAA web site. An example of what's there for the Colt is as follows:

    Airspeed Limits
Vne (never exceed) 138 mph(120 knots)

    Vno(maximum structural cruising) 110 mph(96 knots)

    Vp(maneuvering) 104 mph(90 knots)
