    Default nose wheel shimmy,Piper Colt

Prior to the installation of a set of original wheel fairings, nose wheel shimmy was noticeable, but not considered a problem. After installation,it was extreme.
does any one have an opinion ?

I wish I could help you. I researched through all the forums but only came up with people wanting to buy a replacement dampner. Have you tightened up all the scissor bolts? In my plane, if I have too much air in the nosewheel it tends to shimmy. Many of the people who could help you were at the National SWPC Convention this week. They should all be getting home now, so maybe someone with more knowledge than me will help you.

I don't know why it has a shimmy, but a worn out damper, but when you put the wheel fairing on it adds weight and leverage so it will be more severe.
