I can see that tire pressure has been a subject brought up here a bunch. It appears people argue somewhere between 18-28 lbs (more or less) and my manual says 20psi.
However, I just ordered 2 new 600-6 6 PLY tires from Dresser (specifically since people here talked so highly of them) and there website says the tire pressure for this tire should be 42lbs!
I can understand people preferring a few lbs more or less based on individual preferences but they're suggesting 20lbs more than I've heard anyone else. The chart does show a closer (29lbs) number on the 4-ply but I'm already running the 6-ply so I figured to replace it with what I already have.
The person at Desser couldn't give me an explanation as to why the huge difference but did say find what works for you. Can anyone else explain this to me or have used this pressure? We've already got new 1080HD/1280HD bungees so I definitely don't need anything making it ride stiffer.
P.S. We're replacing the tires since we found they were way out of round (1/2") from sitting flat for 5-10 years prior to buying the plane -that plus the age and wear. That might make a difference in the ground handling at TO and landing. Couldn't be because of the 6 hour tail wheel student at the controls.
