Props for my Tripacer?

Are there any other props other than sensenich 74dm6 that are faa approved for a PA-22-150?
I would like to find a ground adjustable, composite, or wooden prop.
I'm currently using a sensenich 74dm6-0-58 that was re-pitched from a 61.
I works good, however, would like a shorter take off roll.
I'm only getting 2250rpm static.

Well, a friend had a 52 pitch prop and I reluctantly tried it.
WOW! Glad I did.

Sensenich 74DM6-0-52 test:
2450 static rpm
2450 take off roll to 2550 on climbout
2650 rpm WOT straight & level @ 025
110mph @ 2450rpm (cruise)
5gal @ 40min = 7.5 gph

Will have to check climb to 035, and STOL distances.

Looking forward to some testing.

Hey Jess,

The numbers from your original prop sound pretty much like mine with a 150hp and 58" pitch prop. I might suggest a couple of things with that combination. First, have your carb flow checked. With some of the older carbs, and the addition of the one piece venture the distribution of the fuel isn't as uniform as it should be. Second check the calibration of you tack with an optical tack like Prop Tac. Your tack could be reading either high or low. A 52" pitch prop is typical of what you would find on an O-235. Even an O-290D calls for a 54" or 55" prop. Be careful you don't over rev your engine.

You can find the listing of props that are approved for your plane in the TCDS. In addition there are some others that have been STCed. You can find those in the Maintenance Data Depot on the clubs web site if you are a member. Once you access the MDD, look under STCs and do a find on page search for props.

Thx for the reply Tom, will have carb ck'd. TCDS says 74dm6 & static rpm limits 2250 to 2450. The #'s look right, but will make sure.

Was able to finally get my own 74DM6-0-52 prop, static tested it, and had it installed on my plane.
A couple normal takeoff's and landings, then some STOL.
22 Gal of fuel, pilot, 70lbs of gear, & w/both seats.
Shortest takeoff so far... 360 feet.
Performance had the same #'s as listed in earlier post.
Now I need to get my landings shorter and I'll be all set.
Note: From 58pitch to 52pitch...
I did loose about 7mph in cruise, gained a little fuel economy, have quite a bit less manifold pressure,
improved my STOL & climb capabilities significantly.
Seems to be a good tradeoff.
