Hi Frank,
Beautiful airplane. A real work of love and craftsmanship. Too bad the photos cannot open larger in a new window.
The current photo deal is way too complex, I hope Mitch reads this and finds time to resolve the original process. I suspect a module in vBulletin is messed up, or some other goofy thing.
It usta work, it arta work, it gotsta work!
Then again, I suppose it ain't supposed to did like it use to was....

I seem to have misplaced the pictures of N7011K in its last reincarnation as a red airplane so imagine my surprose when I was looking through the June 2007 issue of EAA Sport Aviation ( page 61) and saw what I am sure is 11K on the left. All I can say is the photographer has good taste and a good eye! Now if I can get it back like that again I will be happy.

steve, I just tried a small jpg (5 k), several errors so NO LUCK

This is my Tri Pacer that I have just finished an extensive 19 month restoration of. No, the picture is not flipped. One of the many mods that I did was adding a door on the left side. What a difference that makes. You can see all of my pictures from start to finish at my FaceBook page: rlsmith3@earthlink.net.

For some reason the attitude indicator in 2901Z likes to rest inverted. There is no way I'll do that in flight. The rebuild work is easy if you just look at a little bit at a time and don't think of the whole project and how much there is to do. I am the only Short Winger for a hundred miles +, with a lot of Cessna and other types surrounding me. I had to show them what a Tri Pacer could be like if the elbow grease and money were put into it. I just kept saying "wouldn't it be nice if...". I just had fun!

And since I haven't posted pictures of N6929D here, here's a few shots of her. She's headed to the avionics shop in a couple weeks for a couple upgrades such as a GNS-430 to GNS-430W conversion and a new PMA-8000BT Audio Panel. We're also installing the Steve's Gascolator Kit at annual and I just received LED Landing/Taxi lights that I need to install.

Restoration was completed in 2004, but not by me. Previous owner put a lot of money into her with Bob Moseley and Chad Kennell completing most of the work.

Wow! What a looker! I love the left-hand door. That is probably tops on the list of mods I wish I had. And the "Rams Horn" style yokes look really nice. I'm curious about the rotary dimmers on the left side of the panel. Interior lighting? Were they field approved and where did you source them from? They look great!

Took these today while out at the airport... and after downloading realized they are not too well focused, but you should get the idea. So, here are some more detailed pics of how it is mounted:

as you can see... it is essentially 'flush' mounted to the panel..

just made use of the original slot for the mounting arm that came with the unit. I tried to dis-assemble that to make use of the hardware... but it wasn't easily coming apart and I didn't want to break it. So, I did some scrounging around and found that a bolt would "almost" work.

What I used was a AN4 bolt. I forget the exact dash number that I used, but what I was really after was that the dimensions across the flats was pretty close to the across the flats on the windshield mount provided. The only problem was the head thickness... so, I just ground it down until it slid in the slot. Then, took some dimensions from the top of the slot to the bottom of the unit, accounted for the spacing I wanted clearance from the radio to identify the hole. Then, just mounted a 1/4-28 nutplate.

To install... thread the bolt in, always aligned with outside flats vertical, and adjust until the GPS fits 'snug'. Then to pre-load it enough to help secure it and keep it from rolling side to side, I use a short piece of foam that I wedge behind the unit as I slide it down onto the bolt-mount.

That's a slick mounting scheme! It really looks like it was made to be there. Nice work! How do you like the Adventure Pilot? I've been using ForeFlight on the iPad2, but I've always been curious about Adventure Pilot.

I've been really pleased with the ifly700. It is very simple to use and has a nice size screen and they keep updating and adding features. I did not have an ipad at the time that I chose to go with the ifly700. I have tried a couple of the ipad options (though not in the airplane)... and will likely choose one to use as a supplement or back up to the ifly700. As I haven't tried the ipad in the cockpit yet, it just seems that it may be too big... not sure I could mount it on my lap without getting in the way of the controls...
