Drool. Would love to hang a 160 on mine to shut up those damn Pacer drivers who are always outrunning and out climbing me.

Perfect, this is just what I joined for. I have a colt that was rebuilt from the ground up 5 years ago now I am ready to put some more ponies in it. can we put 180 horses in? can you tell me who has the stc for these upgrades. I'll bet your going to have a ball! your airplane looks fun.

From what I know, the 180hp O360 upgrade is only available for aircraft with conventional "he-man" landing gear. Nose draggers need not apply.

Kurt, even cars keep their spare tires in the trunk and not hang them out in the slipstream.

That makes sense, based on what I have read. I would assume then that a 160 hp that came off a short winger of any kind will interchange with any other shortwinger?
how long have you been flying ?

Wag Aero sells the Super Colt STC it's for the O-320A or B. I am using an A2B so I can continue to burn Autogas. The B does not qualify for the Autogas STC.

    Gotcha thank you very helpful.
Ive got about 1000 hours in a 59 tripacer 150 horse, so I remember the rate of climb. Im betting a rate of climb with one person of 1000 fpm or better on an average day with the 150 or 160 horses in the colt.

Shoot, on a cold day with 1/4 tanks and just me, I can get 1000fpm out of my O235. A Super Colt must be a rocket!

Yeah kurt I'd agree with that, fuel in a colt makes a big difference. I have a place in colorado that is at 9000 feet altitude, Creede, need the extra horse power so i still have a good rate of climb at altitude. Fred I have Mooney acclaim type s that is a rocket, all three wheels hide in the wings, " i don't need no stinking tail wheel" : )

Excellent airplane choice, Matt. We are starting to casually look at Mooney 252s as an eventual Colt replacement. One of those and a Cub would make my hangar a very happy place.

I don't have any cub time but i would like to. I sold my colt 16 yrs ago and bought a comanche. loved the comanche but couldn't fly without spending what was then a fortune in gas. I looked again for a colt, found my old colt on the cover of a flying mag bought it back for 4000 less than I sold it for 5 years earlier. The pa 22 is such an easy fun airplane to fly. what other airplane can you fly a circle around a deer at 500 ft 60 mph without worrying about a stall or anything unexpected, plus for the cost of these airplanes, what a deal!
