    Default Pacer turns 70

Hey everyone, the PA-20 turns 70 years old this year and I want to do something kind of special. We are trying to organize a mass arrival into Oshkosh this year. I will need to get a head count of pilots/ owners that would like to participate. What this will do for us is get us a time slot for arrival to we don't spend hours circling a lake and it will allow the Pacers to park together. Now I will also say that Clippers sure look a lot like Pacers and I am sure they can just join in!

I will need to know by mid March for planning purposes for both staging and for the arrival into Oshkosh.

We will stage in Baraboo and orginize the departure and arrival into Oshkosh. We will need to provide some numbers to the VAA to make the arrangemnets, so please if possible make the commitment as soon as possible!

    Cheers,

Just a quick update. I have been in contact with everyone that has anything to do with Vintage aircraft at Oshkosh and so far, everything is encouraging. If the Pacers arrive together, they will be parked together! We will need to know in advance how many airplanes to expect so the volunteers at Vintage will know how many parking spots we will need.

Still not ready for the details, but we will stage at Baraboo and they have a paved and a grass runway. They will also transportation available to us if anyone needs to get to a hotel or wants food or just to get into town. They are doing more than we could have expected and they are excited to have the Pacers arrive and depart for Oshkosh from there. Camping on the airport will also be permitted, and as always make sure you bring your tiedowns.

Just a note about Baraboo for those that don’t already know. Directly across from the airport is the Ho-Chunk Casino and Water Park. Arrive early and take advantage of the activities in the area before making the trip into Oshkosh.

    See ya there,
    Steve

May 1, 2020 update. It was announced this morning on the EAA website that AirVenture 2020 has been canceled for the safety of the flying population. While we will not have a mass arrival into Oshkosh this year for the 70th anniversary of the Pacer, we are currently hard at work preparing for the TriPacer in 2021!

Please stay safe and let's hope the SWPC convention happens in September 2020!

Well out of something negative, we get something positive! I spoke with Dan from the VAA today and while we will not have the PA-20 mass arrival into Oshkosh this year, and we are currently working on the PA-22 70th anniversary for 2021. Well we are going to combine the PA-20's with the PA-22's in 2021 and have a mass arrival and group parking at Oshkosh.

We are working hard on your behalf!

I was hoping to meet up this year at Oshkosh and start up a conversation about 2025. Seventy five years for the Pacer and the live Smokey Bear flight from New Mexico to Washington D.C.

My plan is to fly my original 50 Pacer with “Smokey” paint job from Albuquerque to The Capital stopping at the original stops in June 2025. On the way home a stop at Lockhaven and then fly into Airventure 2025.

As airventure this year was to be my contact at the government pavilion for sources I need help getting started. I know that a SWPC member flew the route in a Tri-Pacer in the past. If anyone has the article in a older version of the news, I would be interested in that.
