Fabricating Copper Battery Cables

Was looking at replacing my PA22 stock battery cables with the Bogert cables but thought for $300 per there may be a cheaper solution? I changed my cables out in my experimental Skybolt using appropriately sized insulated welder cable. Swaged appropriate connectors and worked like gangbusters.

Are there any reasons one would not fabricate their own cables?

The only reason would be to insure a proper crimp on terminals. There is a service memo or service letter, which you can find in the maintenance data depot, that directs the aluminium wiring be replaced.. This makes it just a log book entry even if you are replacing copper wires.
